Golf Progress Report - Last Week

The weather has been good the past week. Allowed me to hit the course a few times in the week. Played after work at Red Crest three days last week, alone on Monday and Tuesday and with my good friend GC on Wednesday. I think I am improving! My drives are starting to fly straight now, I am able to get out of green-side bunkers without much difficulty and on Wednesday I lost only one ball on the front nine. Parred the 4th and the 8th for the first time in many tries. However I landed my drive into the fairway bunker on the 7th hole and struggled to get out; took 3 shots there. Was I over ambitious, I wonder? Used a 5 iron to get some distant, hit the rim and the ball rolled back in twice. Is there a better way to do this? Sweet redemption on the next hole - Par 3 - landed my tee short on the green and was able to par this.

Went to the driving range on Thursday, got a bucket of balls and practiced with my irons; at the end of the session my left elbow started to pain, I think I have tennis elbow. I am trying to hit down with my clubs and I think I am hitting the ground too hard to take the divot, maybe I should practice on the mats going forward, it has a bit more give and is a bit easy on the elbow.

I played 9 holes at the Par 3 Kettleby Creek course on Friday. This course brought me back to reality - hit only 1 Green in regulation and got only one par. A crushing disappointment - I thought I was better than that. I think my short game sucks. My chips were not close enough and I two putted most times and three putted a couple of times. Went to the driving range again on Saturday and practiced chips and putts.

Hope to play better next week.
